Ashford 1XI team travelled to Hastings for the return match against South Saxons. Ashford made a promising start, with lots of attacking play and several chances on goal, however, time was then abruptly stopped owing to injury to Amy Thomas following a deflected ball to the face from the South Saxons defence. The restart of play resulted in an attacking short corner in which a strong first strike from Ellie Jones found Abi Bingham on the back post for the first goal and only goal of the first half.
The 2nd half saw more even play amongst the two teams, resulting in South Saxons getting through the Ashford defence and past Milly Friend who was making her debut for the 1XI team.
Ashford were not held down for long as Laura Brightling quickly found the back of the net after passing three South Saxon players. South Saxons retaliated and again managed to find the backboard with a second goal.
Ashford continued the crusade and player of the match Harriet Slegg converted the 3rd goal with a smash from the top of the D which was deflected by the goalkeeper. The fourth goal was a joint effort from Emma Bozeat, Harriet Slegg and finished by Kim Cameron for a 4-2 win.
