Ashford Ladies 1s travelled to Canterbury this week to play against their Ladies 2s team. A quick defensive start was had by Ashford as Canterbury came out in full force. Ashford kept their ground very well to get the ball up to our attacking half to put the pressure on Canterburys goalkeeper. With a couple short corners in the first half from Ashford and Canterbury attacking our goal there were no outcomes to keep the score 0-0 at half time.
In the second half Ashford had the advantage of the push back and attacked on Canterbury but their back line held us off well. With 2 unfortunate penalty corners for Canterbury in the second half with them scoring both, the score was 2-0 to Canterbury. Ashford continued to work very well together and put pressure on the Canterbury defence but unfortunately couldn’t add to the score. With that the full time whistle went and the score finished 2-0 to Canterbury.
Player of the match this week for Ashford went to youngest player Hattie Wood, who had her 1s debut.
